Five Necessary Packing Tips
Is your Moving Day slowly creeping closer? You still have time to thoughtfully tackle your packing to help make it as smooth a move as possible.
Movers make the day of a breeze for you and these tips will also help you unpack with ease and no frustration!
Set up a Supply Station
Before you actually dive into the packing, it’s a great idea to set up a supplies station. Assemble everything you’ll need (packing tape, scissors, sharpies, and labels) and throw them in a small box that you can easily bring with you room to room.
But First, Declutter
Before you start packing, this is an excellent time to declutter and donate any unwanted items. It will provide a great fresh start in your new home, and local charities are always looking for gently used household donations.
Embrace a Colour Coding System
As you pack each room, select a specific colour for labeling each box. That will be an easy visual cue for us moving the boxes in. It’s also a great idea to label everything in each box so you don’t get stuck without your coffee machine on the first morning in your new place.
Use What You Have
No need to buy any expensive or extra packing supplies. Use your blankets and towels to protect fragile items. Your empty suitcases are excellent for loose items and will free up box space for other items.
Do Future You a Favour
Document how your decor is set up before you pack it up. If an electronics system has a complicated cord set-up, take pictures of that too. If you can make it easier for yourself to unpack and set up and start making your new home feel like it’s yours, why not, right?
