Spring Cleaning 101
With Spring right around the corner, even if you’re not preparing for a move, it’s always a great time to get organized.
After all, there is a reason they call it Spring Cleaning. After the long grey months of winter, Spring is the perfect season for a fresh start!
If you need some cleaning inspiration, here are our favourite tips!
Room by Room
It can be easy to get overwhelmed when you think about what all needs to be done. So, pick a room and start there.
Bag it Up
Prepare three boxes or bags and label them: Donations, Garbage & Recycling. Once you’re all done, you can toss one, take one to the Recycling Depot and give the last one to your favourite charity. You’ll be amazed at how much more organized everything looks when you clear out that clutter.
Look Way Up
It’s best to start with the fixtures and items that are highest in the room. If you dust the ceiling fan or the tall shelves last, all the debris will sprinkle down onto your clean surfaces!
Make it a Family Event
If the whole family chips in and helps to organize their spaces, it will take less time and they will be proud of their efforts. Ideally that time they put in will ensure their spaces stay organized and clean for a little while longer…
Read the Instructions
Before you tackle the blinds or the duvets that have never been cleaned, make sure you check first how to properly go about it. The last thing you want is to ruin something because you used the wrong cleaner.
Celebrate Your Accomplishment
There’s no shame in treating yourself for a job well done. Whether that’s new art for your walls, new plants for your window sills or a new kitchen device for your counter – these can all be great incentives to get that Spring Clean complete!
